vite umane. La vicenda, conservata nelle memorie individuali, comincia ora ad
essere conosciuta....... All'inizio della dittatura argentina (76-'83) il
console riesce a far espatriare molti italo-argentini destinati a sicura
"desapariciòn"; per farlo utilizza, con disperata fantasia, tutti gli
strumenti che ha a disposizione. Isolato e osteggiato dalla macchina burocratica
di cui fa parte, prima di essere rimosso riesce comunque a salvare un centinaio
di persone. La stima è approssimativa: il diplomatico si dichiara non in grado
di quantificare; ma chi scrive è testimone che, in questi mesi, a ogni sua
apparizione pubblica, c'è un italo-argentino che si alza con gli occhi
arrossati, mostrando uno sgualcito passaporto firmato Calamai....
